Things are heating up underneath the Gold Dome – and outside of it, as we’ve been treated to spring-like weather this week. This week saw the passage of the first bills in the House so far this Session, including of the state’s Supplemental Budget. Keep following this newsletter as we expect many more votes, including votes on more controversial bills, to take place in the coming weeks.
Amended Budget
On Thursday, I voted with my colleagues to approve Georgia’s Amended Budget for the 2025 Fiscal Year. One of the biggest impacts of the Amended Budget will be an increase to the relief efforts as communities continue to recover from Hurricane Helene.

Standing Up for Gun Safety
I was proud to stand with my colleagues on Tuesday to support HB 1, the Pediatric Health Safe Storage Act. We’ve heard a lot about school safety at the Capitol this week, and this bill addresses the cause of preventable tragedies like the one in Winder, GA last year. We were honored to be joined by some of the students and families who were directly impacted by the shooting at Apalachee High School. I applaud their bravery in coming to be speakers and advocates on an issue that has had such a major impact on their lives, and I am committed to joining them in action to fight for gun safety measures in our state.
On Tuesday, We Wore Pink
On Tuesday, I joined many of my colleagues in wearing pink to promote breast cancer awareness. Many of our male colleagues wore blue to add their support of prostate cancer awareness.

Rules Committee
I am a member of the House Rules Committee this Session. Every bill must pass through the Rules Committee before coming to a vote on the House floor. We met for the first time this week to put the budget before the House for a vote, and we anticipate meeting consistently through the rest of session as more bills start getting debates and votes on the floor.

Highlighting Our Pages
I’ve been thrilled to be joined by two wonderful pages so far this session! This past week, I was joined by Anna Ward. Anna is in 8th grade and is an avid traveler and wants to be an attorney when she grows up. She is taking after her father, who is law partners with fellow Representative Scott Holcomb. The prior week, I was joined by Luca Geissler-Norseng, a senior at Midtown High School who stayed longer than his page duties to watch the government in action.
Students between the ages of 12-18 can join us for a day as a House page. If your student is interested, you can find more information on how to become a page here.
Legislative Town Hall
Our next Legislative Town Hall will take place on March 12. I’ll be joined by Sen. Sonya Halpern to discuss all of updates we’ll have after Crossover Day.
Happy Super Bowl Sunday!
I hope you’re all enjoying a safe Super Bowl Sunday! While the Eagles do have a lot of former Dawgs, my daughter Ashley and I are rooting for Taylor Swift’s boyfriend.
